Stabia Main Port, record-breaking summer

It is not a mirage, nor is it a virtual reality. Stabia Main Port, born as a great dream of a group of Stabia entrepreneurs, in synergy with the international maritime agency Luise Group, is today an established reality, which in 2023 recorded 620 berths of mega and gigayachts. A record facility, for the ongoing territorial development and for having transformed a former commercial port, abandoned for over thirty years, into the only port today in southern Italy for pleasure craft up to 180 meters.
Their largest ship docked? The 123-meter Al Lusail. But there are many prestigious entrepreneurs who have chosen Stabia Main Port for a summer stopover. The 101-meter Symphony the 104-meter Quantum Blue, the 110-meter Kaos, the 97-meter Faith, the 86-meter sailing yacht Aquijo and the 90-meter Athena, the 93-meter Lady S. For 2024, there are many wealthy entrepreneurs and charterers who have stopped in the city of Castellammare di Stabia, at the ancient port, where was built and launched the Amerigo Vespucci. From regulars such as 66-meter Invictus, to the 93-meter Aquarius, the 95-meter Whisper, the 95-meter CC Summer, the 97-meter Carinthia VII, the 102-meter Ulysses fleet with the 80 meters U – 81 and last but not least the Zuckerberg fleet with its 118-meter Launchpad and the 67-meter Wingman. “We have so many bookings, with shipowners on board who gladly stay in port and visit the city, illustrates Giuseppe Di Salvo, president of Stabia Main Port – experience and technical expertise allow us to manage the concession in the best possible way, guaranteeing the docking of larger and larger ships every year”.
And the size of the ships is accompanied by an elite tourism that lands in the city, finally appreciating environmental, historical and cultural beauties of Castellammare di Stabia, which already in ancient times was a vacation spot of the Romans, and the archaeological villas of Stabiae bear witness to this. In the 1700s was among the stops on the Grand Tour, here the Bourbons built the Regio Cantiere Borbonico (today’s Fincantieri), unique in the Mediterranean, with an adjoining corderia (today the Production Plant of the Defense Agency).
And new pages of history are being built today, bringing international prestige back to the city of Castellammare di Stabia, starting from the ancient center and transforming the once degraded area into lifeblood for a new territorial economy and boosting quality tourism. “Not a hit-and-run tourism – comments Francesco Napolitano, chairman of the Borgo Antico di Stabia committee, which represents the merchants of the old town center and town port operators – but quality tourists, who moor in the port and choose our businesses, spend and visit Castellammare with increasing pleasure and curiosity”.
“The arrival of large yachts in the city is ensuring important growth and economic return for all the Stabia business activities – comments Johnny De Meo, president of the local section of Ascom-Confcommercio – In addition, hotels and b&b have more and more tourists and for longer periods. Castellammare di Stabia is experiencing a very important moment and we must now with the new municipal administration to work in synergy, to improve services and livability”.
